Water UV-shielding in the Terrestrial Planet-forming Zone: Implications from Water Emission

چکیده
Abstract Mid-infrared spectroscopy is one of the few ways to observe composition terrestrial planet-forming zone, inner astronomical units, protoplanetary disks. The species currently detected in disk atmosphere, for example, CO, CO 2 , H O, and C are theoretically enough constrain C/O ratio on surface. However, thermochemical models have difficulties reproducing full array mid-infrared simultaneously. In an effort get closer observed spectra, we included water UV-shielding as well more efficient chemical heating into code Dust Lines. We find that both required match emission spectrum. Efficient heating, addition traditional from UV photons, necessary elevate temperature water-emitting layer excitation water. stops photons reaching deep disk, cooling down lower layers with a higher column. These two effects create hot emitting column 1–10 × 10 18 cm ?2 . This only 1%–10% above dust ? = 1 surface at wavelengths represents <1% total

Water in star- and planet-forming regions.
In this paper, we discuss the astronomical search for water vapour in order to understand the disposition of water in all its phases throughout the processes of star and planet formation. Our ability to detect and study water vapour has recently received a tremendous boost with the successful launch and operation of the Herschel Space Observatory. Herschel spectroscopic detections of numerous t...
متن کاملDetection of Water Vapor in the Terrestrial Planet Forming Region of a Transition Disk
We report a detection of water vapor in the protoplanetary disk around DoAr 44 with the Texas Echelon Cross Echelle Spectrograph — a visitor instrument on the Gemini north telescope. The DoAr 44 disk consists of an optically thick inner ring and outer disk, separated by a dust-cleared 36 AU gap, and has therefore been termed “pre-transitional”. To date, this is the only disk with a large inner ...

متن کاملSimulations of Terrestrial Planet Formation with Strong Dynamical Friction: Implications for the Origin of the Earth’s Water
Overview: We have performed 8 numerical simulations of the final stages of accretion of the terrestrial planets, each starting with over 5×more gravitationally interacting bodies than in any previous simulations. Given the large number of small planetesimals in our simulations, we are able to more accurately treat the effects of dynamical friction during the accretion process. Dynamical frictio...
متن کاملProton magnetic shielding tensor in liquid water.
The nuclear magnetic shielding tensor is a sensitive probe of the local electronic environment, providing information about molecular structure and intermolecular interactions. The magnetic shielding tensor of the water proton has been determined in hexagonal ice, but in liquid water, where the tensor is isotropically averaged by rapid molecular tumbling, only the trace of the tensor has been m...
